OK, I just read this book and loved it so much that I started googling the author and found this post! I saw her at Brookline Books in Boston last week. I had heard about the book somewhere, and I was in the area after an appointment, so at the last minute, I decided to go.

She is one of the best authors I've ever seen in person in terms of reading and talking to an audience. I found her talk incredibly inspiring. Plus, she's very funny, and comes across as genuine as well as generous. I bought a book and read it in three days. Just you have described, it is a well written and intriguing look at many facets of both her decision to move to France and also her experiences there. I learned a lot from her book too, and not just about cooking. It's a very inspiring story, especially for someone who is considering changing their life. She made a comment in her talk about how we all have the power to change our lives, we just get weighed down by daily obligations.

I can't recommend this book highly enough. Plus if you can see her person, do it as you won't regret it. Her tour dates are listed on her web site (kathleenflinn.com)
